Discount Lawn Mowers
Discount Cheap Garden Lawnmowers
By far the cheapest lawnmowers available to buy today are the cylinder push-along mowers. It seems incredible in this increasingly technological age, these primitive and basic mowers are still being made, far more incredible is it that people are still using them.
Of course, one could think that it is the cost factor, after all modern, technologically advanced, easy to use electric and petrol mowers are big, powerful and expensive machines:- or are they?
Believe it or not, even today, electric and petrol lawnmowers can be bought for less than one hundred English pounds. Which, in the great scheme of things, and considering what they are, is not an awful lot of money to spend on such a thing.
Lawnmowers first came about when an English engineer from Stroud, in Gloucestershire, was watching a bladed reel trimming cloth to make the edges smooth, whilst he was working in a cloth mill, mending and maintaining the machines, almost one hundred and eighty years ago in 1830.
Edwin Beard Budding went away with the vision of these blades at work and the seed of an idea was formed. He built the same kind of blades in a cylindrical form, and placed wheels on each end of the horizontal blades. The cylinder lawnmower was born.
The basic design for the cylinder mower has not changed much since that. We have other types of mower now such as the hover mower, made famous by Flymo. But many mowers are still built on that most basic of designs. In particular our cheapest discounted mowers, the ‘push-power’ mowers, which rely on nothing but physical exertion and momentum to effectively, cut the grass.
Although cheap, the manual cylinder lawnmower is perfectly adequate providing you only have a very small area of lawn to mow, otherwise it will become far too exhausting and you will lose interest.
The other advantage to this mower, besides being extremely inexpensive, is that the only energy it will use is your own. There is no petrol to fill it up with, and no electricity to use. As well as being environmentally friendly, that means there is even more money saved.
However if you have a larger lawn to mow, this is not recommended. There are still many inexpensive mowers on the market. Hover mowers for example, are extremely easy to use and are still very cheap. As are most small electric rotary and cylinder mowers, although with each type mentioned so far the price is creeping up.
If it is a cheap discounted mower which is needed, the petrol mower is not to be recommended. These are the most expensive of the lot and really are not necessary unless you have quite a substantial garden to be mowed.
The manual cylinder mower is quite obviously the best choice for gardeners with only small lawns, particularly if a tight budget must be adhered to.
